The teachings of Jesus speak to the depths of the human mind and heart, and many of the best thinkers throughout history have spoken to this truth in terms of psychology, sociology, and philosophy.
Considering it is neither illogical nor improbable that the universe has a creator, it makes sense that people should not abandon a belief in God as an obsolete perspective.
Cannot people do good and live happily without God? People can try to be good to each other without thinking about God, but is it right to entirely dismiss the idea of God when some of the best minds in subjects such as philosophy, math, and science have attested to the logic of God’s existence? Considering it is neither illogical nor improbable that the universe has a creator, it makes sense that people should not abandon a belief in God as an obsolete perspective.
Furthermore, it is not unlikely that the human soul exists if God does, and the question arises as to what will happen to this soul after a person dies. Are these considerations that people should abandon? Also, the forms of good that secular influences in modern society support tend to be superficial in scope, and many people have said that the lifestyle and ideas of modern society have left them feeling empty on the inside. Finally, it is not wise to only believe in God as a precaution. People should understand the dangers of not believing in God, but they should not believe in him only as a precaution either. It can take humility to believe in God because people cannot see him and be sure that he is there. It also takes hope because people who believe hope in an ultimate form of good. It also requires love to believe in God. People believe in Jesus out of love for what he did for humanity. This is a brief outline of faith. It is not irrational, and it requires hope and love. People of genuine faith follow teachings in this life that have been shown to bring people the most real form of contentment and they believe that they will find even greater happiness with God in the life to come.
I love that you said people use God as a “precaution”! It’s true, people hide behind Him as if He will save them from their human actions.
