You don't hear people talking about it, but students often don't say the Pledge of Allegiance in schools anymore.

Christians,

In a country like the United States where the core principals of the country (concerning freedom and equality, for example) are such a strong reflection of the heart of Christianity, you definitely want to promote the pledge of allegiance in schools.  However, it is not very common for students to say the Pledge of Allegiance in schools in the US today.  While students should have the choice as to whether or not they want to participate in saying it, there should definitely be a time set aside during the day for at least elementary and middle school students who want to participate to say it as a class before the American flag.

Now, if there are entire classes of students who don’t want to say the Pledge of Allegiance, what does that say about their view of their country?  Also, why do they feel that way in the first place?  What have they been taught in school about America?

In such cases, immediate and serious attention needs to be brought to the situation.  Social studies programs, etc. need to be carefully reviewed, for example.  Overall, seeing that time is set aside at schools to say the Pledge of Allegiance and looking into why large groups of students might not want to say it is a matter that needs immediate attention.
