When you speak up for Christian values in public, you're not just following the crowd.

Christians,

Who is a real activist today?  You might be surprised that it is a Christian in many cases. Christians are normally made to feel that they simply adhere to a monolithic social order and are doing little more than following the crowd.  However, one of the major reasons this perception of Christians is wrong is that Christianity is not a largescale part of mainstream society anymore.  The fact is that Christianity is basically non-existent in much of mainstream society today.

Since Christianity has little to do with mainstream conversation in society today, a Christian who speaks openly about their ideas at school or work is certainly not following the crowd.  In fact, that lone Christian student or coworker is really acting as an activist vying for social change. They are stepping outside the crowd to voice an independently considered position. On the other hand, the person who mocks and criticizes the ideas of a Christian coworker or classmate is likely to be supported by others present and is often repeating something they have heard others say.

The people who step on Christianity today often associate themselves with activism and being independent thinkers, but they also often have the mindset of people from time immemorial who just want to believe what others around them think and demonize “the other.”  They are acting as the crowd who has often tried to stomp on the real and good activist who has tried to change society for the better.  In other words, the one who is in the role of the activist and the one who is the follower of the crowd are often the opposite of how they are perceived.
