A person does not need to formally join a religion before starting to pray.
It is when a person speaks aloud or in their head with the intention of being heard by the designer of the universe.
As more people hear Christians talking about prayer in public, they will ask what prayer really is. In its most basic sense, prayer is a conversation with God. It is when a person speaks aloud or in their head with the intention of being heard by the designer of the universe. What can people ask God or talk to him about, however?
Through prayer, people can talk about situations in the lives. They can ask for help. They can also ask for others to be helped. For example, a person can ask Jesus to help a colleague at work who is suffering from depression. People can talk to God or ask him about any topic.
A person does not need to formally join a religion before starting to pray either. God can hear what anyone asks in prayer and does not have human prejudices that would keep him from answering an honest prayer to help someone. Anyone from the public, who with an open mind wants to know if there is a God, can try praying by addressing the creator of the universe aloud or in their mind with the request to know if he is real. God can respond to questions that are asked genuinely by directing people’s thoughts and steps toward an answer.
Even if one is not a believer and needs someone to hear him out, praying can help. Praying does not need a religion. What it needs is a pure heart, seeking help. And the help is always there for you from the God. When you have none to talk to, just talk to the divinity always listening to you.
Gratitude is the foundation of our relationship with God. Walk through your day in the presence of God and note its joys and delights. Ask God to direct you to something during the day that He thinks is particularly important. It may involve a feeling—positive or negative.
Pay attention to the feelings that surface as you survey what’s coming up. Allow these feelings to turn into prayer. Seek God’s guidance. Ask him for help and understanding.
Pray for hope.
Prayer is a way of our communication with God, each time we approach the Lord through prayer, our faith strengthens. God promises that He hears the prayers of His people (1 John 5:14). As we see God answer our prayers with both positive and negative responses, our faith matures because we realize He is actively present in our lives.
