We don't want to come down hard on someone for making a mistake with an innocent comment or question.

Someone asks a question they think has an obvious answer, and they quickly and forcefully respond with an answer intended to make the other person feel “dumb.”
Christians,
A common problem we see growing up and as adults involves what happens to people who make a mistake with an innocent comment or question. It is something we don’t want to do ourselves either. We need to be careful not to quickly come down hard on someone who makes such a mistake.
It is a natural and quick reaction for many people. Someone asks a question they think has an obvious answer, and they quickly and forcefully respond with an answer intended to make the other person feel “dumb.” It isn’t fair to the person asking the question or making the comment, and it often hurts.
For example, you partially see a fruit in someone’s hand and ask if they have an apple. They loudly exclaim that it’s a pear as they show you the fruit, which also draws the attention of several people around you for a laugh. This type of behavior is hurtful and undeserved.
