Soul Drain

Tech is not the real problem behind the mechanization of the way people live today.

Modern life has become quite mechanical in general, and tech has often been misused as a result of the predominant influences behind modern society.

The soul of society has been being drained out. People have been being socialized to live and think in a mechanical way. People are much less interested in poetry, philosophy, and religion today than they once were and are now more inclined to instead tap on screens for superficial enjoyment.

Computers and mobile devices are wonderful inventions in themselves and they are actually not the real cause of the problem, however. Computers can be used to study Confucius or plumb the depths of countless poems. Modern life has become quite mechanical in general, and tech has often been misused as a result of the predominant influences behind modern society.

Predominant social forces behind today’s social current do not want people thinking too much about history, philosophy, and religion. People are instead coaxed into a lull of picking up devices and putting them down, mechanically saying and thinking what other people do, and following the narrative of the day.

Our techs have done more harm than good in this age, at least its been used in that way. This has made us mechanical for sure, making us less interested in creativity.

Distraction is a bad habit that is easy to attain. With this, we are unable to sustain the focus we need for our Christian life. In my opinion, technology can be a distraction and can lead our Christian lives to be weak. But as you said, if technology innovation is used to cultivate our religiousness, it won’t cause any immoral influences in modern society.
