Something To Keep In Mind About Confidence

People can confidently tell us we shouldn't be talking about our faith in public.

People can look and sound confident even when they are wrong.

While the confidence you hear in someone’s voice and see in their expression can be a sign that they are right, it can also mislead you.  People can look and sound confident even when they are wrong.  Someone can tell you confidently that you aren’t supposed to be talking about your faith in public when that is not right.

Psychologically, we can be much more disposed to listen to what someone says when they speak confidently.  It makes us feel that what they are saying is based on the truth.  However, confidence is not proof of the truth. 

Being aware that someone can speak confidently while pointing you in the wrong direction will help keep you from being misled.  It also helps to have a strong understanding of what you should be able to do in the first place.  It is an essential human right to be free to express who you are and what you believe.
