Come to the aid of someone who is shy or doesn't know what to say.

Try finding out what they like to do in their free time or what they specialize in for work.
Christians,
If you are at a social gathering, like an event for work that new employees are attending, and are likely going to be talking and eating with people you haven't met before, you may find yourself sitting with someone who is shy or isn't sure what they should say. This can end up being an embarrassing experience for them. However, be conscious of how to turn that possibility around from the start.
Try finding out what they like to do in their free time or what they specialize in for work. If you don't know much about their hobby or specialization yourself, ask questions about it. Asking friendly, non-invasive questions can be a great way to carry on a conversation if you are feeling shy or not sure what to say yourself.
Now, they are talking about what they like or are good at. They have something to say that they can talk about with some enjoyment or confidence. This helps turn what could have been an embarrassing experience into a great one.
