Paper

You need to bring out what is on the paper.

A piece of paper, either material or digital, can contain information of great value, but people need to bring out that value.

At times, people can laugh at rules on paper in an organization if they are not generally followed. One person brings up the rules in an altercation and another says it is just a piece of paper. However, should that piece of paper be laughed at if it would have been better to follow the rules on them? Also, what did the person who laughs try to do to follow those rules and encourage others to do so?

Looking down on what a piece of paper says can happen at a company where the rules aren’t enforced properly, and it can happen in other types of situations too. At a startup, there might be clear rules on paper about finishing a project on time, but a project might rarely be finished on time because no one speaks up when the project is finished a week late. A person might also laugh at someone who follows a religious principle they have read, asking what would happen if they didn’t follow it.

A piece of paper, either material or digital, can contain information of great value. However, people need to bring out that value. The paper cannot do it on its own, and it isn’t the paper that fails to stand up to reality when the information it contains could have been put to good use in terms of how to run an organization or to live life.
